Associate Professor
Clelia LaMonica is a Senior Lecturer at Uppsala University working at the intersection of digital humanities, historical linguistics, and sociolinguistics. Her research explores how insights can be gained by combining diverse data sources, for example textual or spoken language data with perceptual measures or archaeological metadata. She has contributed to interdisciplinary research spanning sociolinguistics, psychology, archaeology, and classical studies.
LaMonica has previously been a researcher on the Historical Psychology project at Harvard University and a Research Associate at the Culture, Cognition, and Coevolution Lab examining psycho-social variation across historical and cultural contexts using computational methods. She has also worked across digital humanities and social sciences research coordination and development. Her previous research has included philology, socio-phonetics, and English language didactics, with additional interests in open science, interdisciplinary methods, and digital approaches to humanities research.
